A. Postmodern art- art that mocks modern art, it promotes parody, irony and humor to get a concept across. it also uses past movements for infulence.
B. Feminism is considered postmodern art because feminist art revolves around womens rights and being equals with men. much of feminist artwork depicts women in positions of men in many different humorous or ironic ways
C. Lorna Simpsons work is considered postmodern art because it revolves around blacks and past problems fitting in with white culture or society.

Formalism
a. Formalism to me is basically just making art because an artist wants to make art. There is'nt any reason or concept behind the art. I believe that the art is possibly a way for the artist to explore new ideas and different medias of art.
b. After looking at the works of Mondrian, Kandinsky, and Malevich; I feel that the artist that has work related the closest to my definition is Malevich. I think that his style of art is more widely expressiv as far as different styles. All of Kandinskys work seemed too much alike and each painting seemed to carry over to the next too much. Mondrians work was close to my definition but it seemed to have the same faded look and didnt seem like there was much exploration with different styles or brush strokes.
c. when I look at Mondrians work i see a constant repetition. For this reason I feel that this work relates to formalism because is seems like Mondrian did most of this art because he found a certain style that he liked and stuck with it. it seems that he was making this work just because he liked the process and wanted to create the specific art.
d. Paul Rothenstein is the artist that I chose. I see his art comparing to mine because it is colorful and the line work seems fun.
